Sending out much love to Secretary Clinton. That opening statement was awesome. And her aplomb during the hearing was amazing. At one point, some Republican toady asked her how she felt about Bill Clinton getting a backrub in one of the photos. She coolly answered that she was "not here to talk about my feelings". And how she kept her cool when it was discovered that Lauren Boebert had sent a photo from inside the hearing to Benny Johnson -- it's beyond me. I would have wanted to stand up and get in LB's face and call her an immature, stupid brat. But the veteran of 13 or so hours of Benghazi hearings (in 1 day!) kept her cool.

Stephen Brady's avatar

She handed the rethugs their asses on a platter. Comey is at best a very irritating man. At worst, he is helping the Orange Diaperload cover up his crimes.

T L Mills's avatar

Comey IS irritating.....but Comer Pyle (Representative James Comer of Kentucky) beyond irritating. He is "step-on-a-rake" stupid...repeatedly so. Hard to understand how he keeps getting re-elected.

However to be scrupulously fair (something Repubbies haven't a clue about) the current committee lacks the prior experience of Hillary handing them their collective ass because it was chaired by Trey Gowdy with several Reps who are no longer in the House. It's really hard to put on a convincing "investigation" when the only reason you are doing it in the first place is for the theatrics.

Stephen Brady's avatar

My bad - I meant Comer… all these names run together after a while.

D ODonnell's avatar

No worries. I just did the same thing below.

D ODonnell's avatar

La Handjob Boebert is facing some stiff competition and there’s a good chance she will lose her seat in November.

Would be nice if ToadyComey would, too.

D ODonnell's avatar

I’m one District away from hers;

she is not well-liked in most of Colorado.

Annette's avatar

other than Kid Rock and the guy who got a handjob in the theater, I'm surprised she's liked by anyone.

Paolo's avatar

Thoughts and prayers. I'm not a Coloradan but I have donated to Boebert's opponent, Trisha Calvarese.

D ODonnell's avatar

Thank you, Paola!

On behalf of my beloved home state. I will be doing the same.

Right, Marmo?!

Annie's avatar

It's James Comer, not Comey.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Thank you! I was sort of bewildered. Not James COMEY. Couldn't be.

Gordon Shumway's avatar

it may not rhyme, but it's ToadyComer........

Dennis the Menace.'s avatar

Got any tips for her?

Groan

Annette's avatar

Lauren Bimboboert needs to be removed from the committee for violating its rules. She also needs to be removed from Congress for being an idiot to the nth degree. Go babysit your grandchild!

Gordon Shumway's avatar

but if we removed idiots from Congress it wouldn't exist......

Annette's avatar

let's imagine that for a moment, shall we?

Gordon Shumway's avatar

cogent arguments have been made for abolishing the Senate...😁

D ODonnell's avatar

We used to use Bimbert on twitter back in the day before X

or “Lauren BoBo.”

Btw, she only won election by 546 votes. Not exactly a resounding mandate, eh?

Annette's avatar

wow, 546 was a lot of hand jobs, even for her (sincerely, snarky Annette)

Susan Stone's avatar

It's good enough a trump mandate…

J Cheng's avatar

love Bimboboert!!

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

I remember watching some of the Benghazi hearings and how impressive Hillary Clinton was.

Don't f*ck with this woman, Mr. Comer. You will be shown up as the fraud that you are.

D ODonnell's avatar

Bravo, triple B!

Erik Bruun's avatar

Hillary Clinton's professionalism, decency and lifetime commitment to her ideals shines through the pig sty of MAGA Republican muck like a blinding light.

At her best, she is the Excalibur sword of a golden era.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Wonderful and eloquent.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Whoops-- The 'wonderful and eloquent' applies to many of the comments made about Hillary but I do want to challenge Gordon Shumway's remark about Hillary's relationship with Bill. Now....that Bill is a chaser and has done some bad shit in his life is absolutely true. Maybe he's trying to redeem himself now....maybe his cardiac problems scared him. But cut Hillary some slack; they met while in college. Both academic superstars, both ambitious, both competitive.... Think of other unlikely couples: Elizabeth Taylor & Larry-from-Betty Ford, Angelina & BillyBob Thornton, Jennifer Lopez and Anyone, Gavin & Kimberly---I could go on and on. That Hillary is still with Bill does not minimize her outstanding remarks to those fools who were trying to trap her. She was dignified and showed them to be the fools they are. In short, she took no shit. None whatsoever.

Diane Smith's avatar

Thanks Wendy. Totally agree on why she stayed married to Bill. Who cares? They are a couple who are also individuals.

Gordon Shumway's avatar

too bad she hitched herself to low-life Slick Willie.....😒

Annie's avatar

And would have won the election were it not for Russia colluding with Drumpf to steal it from her, just as he stole the 2024 election from Kamala Harris.

LiverpoolFCfan's avatar

Wow.

Game, set, match!

Timothy Cooper's avatar

Just think what the country would be now if the GOP had not cheated the system as they always do and Hillary had been elected president. I have the highest respect for that woman

- Karen Cooper

Reality Seeker's avatar

Schooled but likely unmoved. Trump's power and threats still outweigh Hillary's scathing commentary.

I'm sure Comers first thought was how dare a woman talk to us like that!

Comer is a major tool. He has to use industrial toilet bowl cleaner and makeup to clean the shit from Trump's ass every day.

J Cheng's avatar

My exact thoughts - Benghazi should have told them what they were up against but no, they had to bring her in.

Dawn Kucera's avatar

To their continuing sorrow and humiliation, the Republicans keep forgetting that in any room she’s in, Hillary Clinton will be the smartest person, the most prepared person, and the most politically savvy person present. They seem to have to keep learning and relearning this lesson.

Susan Kemp's avatar

But, but, but she’s only a woman. MAGA men’s heads keep exploding and I love seeing it. I didn’t agree with Secretary Clinton on everything but she would have been an awesome president.

Susan Barth's avatar

Chelsea Clinton is as brilliant as her mother.

I expect Chelsea will our first woman POTUS.

Proving a penis is optional in the Oval Office.

Rosann's avatar

Yes, considering it’s nonexistent in the oval office atm

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

In both senses of your phrase.

D ODonnell's avatar

👏🏼 👏🏼

Karena's avatar

Maybe she is as brilliant as her motjer, and while she certainly shouldn't be penalized for her connection I really wish this country could stop hankering to have dynasties.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Unfortunately, Chelsea's daddy didn't think so.

----couldn't resist-------Bill, you said you were sorry but did you ever say it to Monica?

Harvey Perry's avatar

I wish Dr. Jill Stein had thrown her support to Hillary Clinton.

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

I wish Jill Stein had not pursued a pointless vanity campaign for President.

Harvey Perry's avatar

After she was photographed having dinner with Putin and General Michael Flynn at the Kremlin, she was at least a Russian asset if not a Russian agent. She has done the most to harm the environment, except perhaps Ralph Nader when he torpedoes Gore's election.

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

At the least a willing fool. One wonders who has bankrolled Stein.

Emma Lewis's avatar

Aargh so many many bad actors & idiots. Imagine really thinking there was no difference between trump & Hillary. Wtf, Susan Sarandon? I can't even respect her acting anymore after her preposterous stance during the 2016 election. Jill Stein - agreed - at least an asset if not an agent.

Dawn Kucera's avatar

Yes, and I bet that’s the thing that ticks them off the most. It’s fun to watch them squirm.

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

There's nothing quite like an accomplished woman to really get misogynists angry.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Agree. But please explain that 'she's only a woman' was meant as sarcastic?

Susan Kemp's avatar

It was absolutely meant as sarcasm, imitating the evangelical “Christian’s” beliefs that women are lesser than and subservient to men.

Pearl's avatar

Yes, she "repaired" from all the slings and arrows that the Repubs have thrown at her. She's also supremely prepared for everything that they've thrown at her.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Absolutely. Yesterday will be one of her moments of glory!

Pearl's avatar

As were the Benghazi hearings. Republicans should have learned they can never get the best of someone as smart, articulate, and as well prepared as Hillary.

MaryPat's avatar

Prepared person

Dawn Kucera's avatar

Yes, thank you, MaryPat. I really need to more carefully re-read pieces when I’m using voice dictate. 😁

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Yup, prepared -- damn that auto correct!!!

Dawn Kucera's avatar

And voice dictate, which is what I was using. I’ve fixed it.

Charles Hall's avatar

My continuing fantasy is that during her 1st debate with Trump, while he was looming over her, she pulled one of her shoes off and whacked him in his nuts - alas, just a recurring dream of mine

Susan Moss's avatar

One of my favorite headlines ever. I say yet again we would not have been in this situation with the orange menace had Hillary been elected our president in 2016. You’re one smart, tough cookie, Madam Secretary.

RandomHuman's avatar

And she was elected. But Cheater in Chief gotta Cheat.

Susan Moss's avatar

I totally agree with both statements. And liars gotta lie, add that one.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

And she woulda shoulda coulda been POTUS if we'd gotten rid of the gawd damn electoral college system that has long since become unnecessary with the advent of the telegraph and telephone to send collected election results to a central hub. People, we don't need galloping horses to communicate with each other any longer! Fix the Constitution! Its original writers said a quarter of a millennium ago that it should be corrected as need arose -- it's not sacrosanct re particulars like this! Why this is not a priority is beyond me.

Rebecca MacGregor's avatar

The American Constitution should be thrown out. We need a new one, for all of us.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Egads, NO NO NO!!! Don't scrap it -- FIX IT so that the new issues and realities of life 250 years later are considered and addressed. Wording should be updated, too. Basically it needs a really good editing job in which every word and punctuation mark is looked at for its precision and usefulness to work for our lives now. But the good bones are there! Consider it a fixer-upper worth preserving, albeit with extensive rennovation.

Susan Stone's avatar

I wanted to like both of your comments, but keep getting a "something went wrong" error message. I hope this goes through.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Got this! Thanks, Susan!

Wendy Tucker's avatar

It should be eliminated as soon as possible. It does not reflect the voters preferences.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

EXACTLY!!! Every single vote should count, and the electoral college system renders that void. One voter/ one vote = the people have spoken.

But the people have spoken can only happen when the votes are NOT sabotaged as happened in 2024 when so many were prevented from voting (threatened, deleted from voting rolls) or whose votes were hijacked by the Muskrat so that Agent Orange could cheat his way into the WH.

Friedrike Merck's avatar

If, during the second debate, Hillary Clinton had turned around and told DJT in no uncertain terms to go back to his stool and behave... she would have won the election. There's nothing like standing up to a bully, which, thank goddess, is finally starting to happen more with each passing day.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

WELL SAID!

Yep, she ought to have done that -- it would have demonstrated that she can play in the big league with the big boys.

And yep, thank goddess, standing up to this whole fascist regime of bullies is finally starting to happen more with each passing day.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

So true. I remember that night so well....looking at that big lumbering creature in a black coat being surrounded by Secret Service to make his victory speech, and thinking 'THIS. (???)is the next president.' It cannot be true. I still am bewildered (occasionally--the rest of the time I'm just furious).

Mirla G. Raz's avatar

I totally blame James Comey for that.

WoodsmanBob's avatar

Annette's avatar

I believe she's preoccupied with her documentary tour. Be best, gurl!

Wendy Tucker's avatar

She should be. ASAP. She can be at her be best. What a spectacle that would be. But what would be absolutely wonderful is if she told the pure unvarnished truth about everything. I actually think the American public would forgive her for hooking up with Trump. Hopefully, her prenup will protect her.

Kathleen Mulvihill's avatar

Brilliant as ever. We lost, in Hillary, a person who might have been one of America’s greatest presidents.

Kathy Salyer's avatar

Bravo!! To Hillary for her compelling statement and to you for sharing the full text.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

YES!!! YESYESYES.

Diane Smith's avatar

She is an amazing person. I don't care what her husband did (she does, but that's her husband). She would have been a grrrrreat president. Brilliant. So sad.

Thank you, Andy! Loved reading this!

Kate Delano-Condax Decker's avatar

A brilliant assessment by Hillary Clinton. One of the most essential pieces of this completely horrible situation of the powerful mostly American male sex abusers who preyed for years on children. Everyone needs ot see this statement by Hillary Clinton, in my view.

Harvey Perry's avatar

It was good for the country that the "Republicans" provided Hilary Clinton with the opportunity to issue this statement. There is no cure for stupid.

Kate Delano-Condax Decker's avatar

Yes, you are entirely right, in my view. Hard to see the end that appears nowhere to be found, of the "Stupid" disease that has found its way into everything that's sacred in our Constitution.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

INTERESTING --until I read your comment, Harvey, it didn't occur to me that Republicans probably forgot who they would be dealing with. Yes...no cure for stu

Fran Gibson's avatar

This is profound and also bloody awful for all of us who have to watch Hillary continue to school these attack dogs.

Joan Smeltzer's avatar

True - But since no one else has the guts, she will strike back where no MAN has been brave enough to...

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Both Fran Gibson and Joan Smeltzer: BRAVA!!! ***THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE***

Lisa Hill's avatar

So proud of Hillary! Decency and integrity still exists!

Sharon Herrick's avatar

This be best: "In one of the greatest cases of mistaken identity since Donald Trump thought E. Jean Carroll was Marla Maples, House Republicans sent a subpoena to the wrong First Lady.

Instead of Melania Trump, who spent untold hours with the child rapist Jeffrey Epstein, they summoned Hillary Clinton." Just imagining what Melania under oath might sound like---ah---the spirit soars.

T L Mills's avatar

We'd hear her claim the 5th more times than either Donny or Rick Scott ever claimed it.

Sharon Herrick's avatar

As someone who has never thought of herself as a conspiracy theorist, I find myself these days wondering who, for example, Barron Trump's real father is. A very unhealthy frame of mind. I also find it hard to believe that Epstein actually killed himself. Little green men may be in my future.

Robot Bender's avatar

It doesn't really matter, because they raised him to be a little shit just like his father and grandfather.

Sharon Herrick's avatar

So both nature AND nurture.

T L Mills's avatar

Barron looks (or looked, when he was younger) very much like the pictures of a much younger Donald J. Trump. I don't think Melania would have dared to put something of that nature over on Trump.

He is the meal ticket, the sperm donor for her anchor baby and the guy who made it possible for her parents to chain migrate here....and Donnie is the type of guy who would not have hesitated to repudiate her if she had tried to pass off a bastard as his own progeny.

Thus, I'm convinced that Barron is Donald's kid. But I do think, since Donald was ~60 yrs old when Barron was conceived...Barron's exceptional height may have more to do with some kind of genetic mutation disorder such as Marfan syndrome or perhaps MEN2B (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2B).

Sharon Herrick's avatar

I appreciate this information. I confess I haven't been paying that much attention to Barron but this analysis makes good sense. That you have thought about this ---even as far as trying to explain his height---is fairly amazing. And I'm so glad you shared. Thank you.

T L Mills's avatar

BTW...I agree that Epstein did NOT kill himself.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

I posted somewhat the same conclusion a few minutes ago. A good endocrinologist could comment. Also, Barron never speaks. I read recently that he may be on the Autism Spectrum. He apparently dropped out of NYU and is living at WH. He doesn't seem to make eye contact with photographers. Poor kid. With ignorant and vain parents such as his, any help would never be provided.

Annette's avatar

Barron's father could be Lurch . . . Krusti Gnome killed Epstein because she thought he was a dog (and he never approached her for sex, which she never forgave him for) and the little green men's name are Larry, Curly and Lutnick.

Susan Stone's avatar

Oh, c'mon, Annette. Lurch was much better looking than trump. And Krusti Gnome clearly doesn't understand that she's too old for Epstein.

Annette's avatar

Ok, Susan . . . I'll give you the Lurch comparison. But Krusti went to all the trouble of Botox, fillers and spackle to make herself look younger.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

I wonder the same. Barron should have some genetic testing -- not necessarily for who his biological father is, but in regard to growth hormone. His height is way above average (Andre the Giant???). And has anyone heard him speak?

Re: Jeffrey's 'suicide'--please----of course he didn't kill himself. I wish so so much that some kind of investigation could take place which would shed some truthful light on this. And why has Mizz Maxwell made no comments....what does she know.

Annette's avatar

Mizz Maxwell knows a sh*t ton, but she wants to receive favors for all of it.

Annette's avatar

except, with her accent, it will come out: "I plead the filth"

Wendy Tucker's avatar

I'm having such a good time fantasizing about this. Would be a great opener for SNL.

Susan Stone's avatar

From what I've seen of Barron, he looks like daddy. But I doubt anyone will ever know.

Jane Gutsell's avatar

2016 was a terrible loss for our country. We needed that glass ceiling to be shattered once and for all.

Maria Jette's avatar

It WOULD have happened, if not for the inexplicable persistence of the ELECTORAL COLLEGE! I can’t understand how little outrage exists about that archaic, and now literally lethal, concept. Compare the weight of a Californian’s vote with that of a Montanan’s, and feel what I felt in my long-ago 8th grade social studies class: disbelief.

I don’t think America will get the woman we actually elect (e.g. Hillary…and almost Kamala) until we kill off the Electoral College. So as of now, that looks like NEVER to me.

Sincerely,

Eeyore

Jane Gutsell's avatar

I completely agree, but states can get rid of the winner take all policy and go to proportional awarding of their electoral votes. I think a couple have already done that. That would effectively neutralize the Electoral College without amending the Constitution.

Maria Jette's avatar

Yes, that’s Nebraska and Maine—they “appoint individual electors based on the winner of the popular vote within each Congressional district and then 2 "at-large" electors based on the winner of the overall state-wide popular vote.” (that’s from archives.gov)

But that’s still far from being one person/one vote! And if it were easy to make even that kind of better-than-nothing change, more states would’ve done it by now—MN, for instance, where I live, and where we have a fantastic SOS (Steve Simon— since 2015) who’s not just maintained but *increased* our voter participation, which had already been either #1 or #2 since almost the beginning of time.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Restating what I said above:

Hillary woulda shoulda coulda been POTUS if we'd gotten rid of the gawd damn electoral college system that has long since become unnecessary with the advent of the telegraph and telephone to send collected election results to a central hub. People, we don't need galloping horses to communicate with each other any longer! Fix the Constitution! Its original writers said a quarter of a millennium ago that it should be corrected as need arose -- it's not sacrosanct re particulars like this! Why this is not a priority is beyond me.

ONE VOTER / ONE VOTE!!!

Maria Jette's avatar

I don’t get it either!

As long as there are still Republicans benefitting from it, the appetite is on one side only. But even if the Dems made it a priority, I think it would be a huge, expensive slog, and EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD GIVE US THE PRESIDENCY, somehow nobody wants to deal with the drudgery of forcing a constitutional amendment.

There are some scrappy organizations called which is gamely struggling to get the country on board, though, like this one:

https://www.nationalpopularvote.com/

Here’s a run-down of previous attempts to dump the EC—pretty interesting AND disheartening:

https://fairvote.org/archives/the_electoral_college-past_attempts_at_reform/

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Thank you, Maria! I'll investigate these -- MUCH appreciated!

BTAM Master's avatar

"As we all know, however, too often Congressional investigations are partisan political theater, which is an abdication of duty and an insult to the American people."

Actually, MAGA eats this up. It's easier than thinking.

Hillary has two problems that cost her the election:

1) She's missing an essential body part.

2) She's smart and qualified and those with the essential body part can't deal with it (I originally typed "can't handle it" but thought better).

Twice America has elected a known con over a capable, qualified woman. What's wrong with voters?

LR's avatar

Twice, America has elected a known con artist over two of the most capable candidates we have ever had in our history. Without any regard to gender.

LR's avatar

Although, of course, it was because of gender it happened, let me be clear.

T L Mills's avatar

This country is riddled with misogyny.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Like almost every country and culture on the planet. So fucking sick of it -- I'm screaming inside all the time.

Floofie Snapz Back!'s avatar

Excellent on all counts!! Yup, the squirmy MAGAts love them some political theatre -- they get out the popcorn and shut off the little grey cells. Well, maybe that's overstating -- I'm giving them too much credit that they have grey matter to turn off. That's largely not the case.

Re 2: "can't handle it" -- bigly guffaw!!!

Lastly -- What's wrong with voters? Why would they elect a con man over a capable, qualified woman? Answer: Revert to first issue you raised -- (a) they love political theater, then add to it (b) they're largely stoopid (issue addressed in "Actually, MAGA eats this up. It's easier than thinking") and misogynistic (issue addressed in 1 & 2).

See there? You answered your own "What's wrong with voters?" question!

The bigger question: How do we address the issues you raised and fix these problems so voters are no longer encumbered with and acting on stoopidity, misogyny, and too much love of a walloping good political shit show?

BTAM Master's avatar

And that, Mr or Ms Floofie, is why I'm an engineer and not a politician: I like being given problems I can solve.

Today in the Houston paper, it was reported that a 27 year old pimp, who recruited high school girls for the trade, was sentenced to 29 years in a Texas jail, and then 15 years supervision when his term is served. That’s what needs to occur with these customers of Epstein, including the President. He has smeared his name on as much as he can - I hope it will all be removed, like Confederate statues, only to NEVER come back!

BTAM Master's avatar

I look forward to taking a selfie as his name is removed from the Kennedy Center.

BTAM Master's avatar

even better, put him in a cage on the back of a tractor and drive him around D.C. so he can watch every ugly banner or every mention of his name be removed from D.C. monuments. DJT Institute of Peace my ass!

Yeah, strange. Hmmmmm. Could it be that big money + power = justice thwarted?
