I am proud of the many grandmothers in our TBR community who are resisting the Trump regime. ❤️

Yeah, and you know what? The goons on the Trump squad are making fun of the "old hippies" and the "90-year-olds" protesting in Washington. Laughing at them. Saying they should go home and take naps. Laughing at their grey hair. Well, I'm one of those "old hippies" who is protesting. I may color my hair, but it's turning grey underneath. I may not be in my 90s, but I"m in my 80s. And I am a grandmother. Don't fuck with me.

Another "Grey Lady" who's a veteran of the Vietnam War Era protests here.

A few years back I had a neighbor who could do Ditzy Old Lady like nobody's business. I watched traffic cops, the HOA, sales persons, etc. just give up when they couldn't get through to her. I was never sure how much of this was an act and how much was just her. But if it was an act, it was a good one. I'm trying to emulate it.

I am with you, Donna. I might not have grandchildren, but I am certainly old enough to have great-grandchildren. I am proud to be an old hippie — We stopped the Vietnam War, got civil rights laws passed, and won Roe v. Wade, didn't we? I rarely have time for a nap because I am working hard for democracy every day by joining protests at every opportunity, writing letters, making calls, and attending meetings in support of my local Democrats. Gray hair? The SOBs can go ahead and laugh at mine. I am still smarter than all of them put together. That applies most assuredly to RFK, Jr., who could not read or understand a scientific paper if his life depended on it.

Donna, I am old enough to be a granny and have a lot of "children" (as an educator with dozens and dozens of former students who call me their "history mom") and I agree: we are tough as old boots and twice as angry as the young 'uns.

I've been pointing out this article in Smithsonian Magazine for months. It has more details about what the regime did to people. Horrifying. But yes, the abuelas and others are not letting anyone forget. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/four-decades-after-fall-argentina-dictatorship-fight-over-country-darkest-chapter-reopening-grievous-wounds-180985587/ Something to read while you're waiting for the book to arrive. (Can't wait to read it!) When I read that article, I asked myself if this could happen in the US. I didn't like the answer I got.

Overwhelmingly positive and neutral. Truckers LOVE us. A choice handful give us a finger, do the Trump pump, yell, or very occasionally try to clip us with their truck mirrors. We've been recently denied access to the I-81 overpass by VDOT and we've worked with Shenandoah Valley print / NPR media to get several stories in response to this clear First Amendment restriction. We've been there every week since early March with NOT ONE safety incident; we're very organized and trained. Three people (all our age) decided to push and get arrested / court summons. That just helps OUR outrage machine.

I’m a 76-year-old Jewish grandmother, and Stephen Miller is afraid of me. Greeted by noisy elderly protesters in Union Station in D.C. in August, Miller appeared flummoxed. He muttered: “We’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap…” Magats do not know the difference between information and wisdom. Aging Hippies do. I can’t wait to read this book! Thanks, Andy.
