Andy Borowitz is a comic, satirical genius!

Agreed. Dave Barry became immortal in my eyes when I saw his blurb on Joe Queenan's Red Lobster White Trash and the Blue Lagoon. "If you're a fan of informed viciousness... and who isn't?"

As for a reason to kick you out of the band, I'd accept spite as a valid answer. Even stage spite.

Andy, your comedy is great. And your commentary on the current wannabe important ruler in your written humor always bolsters me in our currently sad history. My thanks to you for your courage to speak up.

OH, my … I have worshipped at Dave’s comic altar since the day those Wads of Teutonic Tissue escaped from the NYC subway train …. Thanks for making this accessible to those of us who are $$ challenged.

Onward.

Excellent interview; I love how Dave Barry made you laugh, Andy! Two of the funniest guys on the planet, for sure. I think the Rock Bottom Remainders should take over the government and we'd all be in great shape!

Since you are pulling staff from the Miami Herald, how about bringing on Carl Hiassen - new book and ready for the exposure!! Please...

He is great! Did you know Carl’s brother was shot and killed in the attack on the Baltimore Sun! I dropped Carl’s name on two ex-Miami cops running an investigation firm I had occasion to have contact with, and we hit it off right away. They respected him!

The Atlantic just had a great story on him. I saw him at a Denver Press Club award ceremony. Interesting that cops have respect for him. Gotta love the guy. Squeeze Me is a great read.

Yes! But I loved all of his books! I just bought the new one, thanks for that I didn’t know he had that one out.

I really enjoyed you and Dave, 1) I’m going to order Class Clown! 2) When you talked with Dave about bullies a lightbulb went off over my head: The awful scenes we’re watching of ICE attacking innocent people in what is absolutely our free country - the bullies are in their glory right now, authorized and paid handsomely to be the assholes at their worst, it’s a golden age of bullies in America, deplorables at the pinnacle of inflicting pain & suffering on mostly good innocent people. And the GOP wants their $42,000 bonuses apiece approved by congress. I can only laugh so much with all the shit going on. Keep us laughing, Andy, please and thank you

Love your work, Andy; it's helping to keep me 'somewhat' sane. And can't wait to listen to the episode this evening. I saw Dave at Canada College last night and my sides still hurt from all the laughing. Can't even imagine how funny the two of you will be. Looking forward to it.

Squeee! I don't know if Dave has ridiculous adoring groupies, but I'm one! So excited to see & hear him, and very glad there's a new book, and that he's on Substack!! (Apologies for the exclamation points. I am an accountant and rarely get to use them.)

Extra chuckle for the subtitle's rendering of Warren Zeman. I had to watch it twice to roar each time.

Edited to add: Thank you, Andy!

What a combination: Dave Berry and Andy Borowitz. I love it! Years ago when I was a new single mom I was working (and still didn't have any money) my mom used to cut out Dave Berry's column from the newspaper and send them to me. She knew how much I enjoyed a good laugh and Dave never disappointed. I still have those columns and they still make me laugh.

Have you two ever considered doing a stand-up show together?

I can't believe this! My mother lived in Boca Raton; I lived in Tokyo, and she too would cut out Dave Barry's columns and mail them to me! I still have a bulging manila envelope filled with brown-edged clippings.

Mine always arrived at the right time - when I needed a good laugh the most. Moms tend to have a sixth sense about things like that. At least mine did and I suspect yours did too.
