Just watched this! Really? The BBC?

Even worse than Trump--as if that is possible--is that no major United States news media company has done such a similar in-depth and exhaustive investigation into Trump's flagrant sexual assaults. One story at a time, almost always hinged on court proceedings, does not tell the full depths of Trump's depravity.

Freedom of the press in the United States is useless when it is not accompanied by courage.

Andy Borowitz's avatar

Interesting sidebar: Trump is suing the BBC for a more recent Panorama episode about his involvement in Jan 6. And yet he never sued over this 2018 episode. Would he have difficulty proving in court that these women were lying?

Erik Bruun's avatar

For all his depravity, Trump is not ignorant of the law. Sworn testimony from the score of brave women who stepped forward is not a hornet's nest he would dare stir.

Witness the less savvy Melania Trump and her lawsuit against Michael Wolff.

Discovery and depositions can be a bitch!

Jay Phinizy's avatar

No pun Intended!! Didn't she wear a fashionable 'hoodie' with a catchy phrase like "who cares?" or some such phrase?? Now that she is in the public eye (figure!) she will find it more difficult to sue for damages.

Lalita Janke's avatar

We all have heard him boasting about have his right to see nude Miss Teen contestants. His narcissistic behavior will be his own demise 🤞

Barbara G Bornstein's avatar

I fear nothing will lead to his demise.

Gabriele C Overweg's avatar

I sincerely hope you are not implying that he will go on forever, but who knows he may be embalmed like an Egyptian pharaoh to be admired by future generations, methinks.

from your font to God's ears!

Andy, Our judicial process moves at a glacial pace! (As Joyce Vance pointed out in your excellent interview with her ) Trump’s modus operandi is to embroil news organizations in his frivolous billion dollar lawsuits. He won’t sue over this 2018 episode but he’ll be sure to keep us distracted with his deplorable antics so that stories of his depravity are never brought to light and justice!

P J Johnston's avatar

Great question Andy!

Karen Teige's avatar

I fear very soon, there will be no Free Speech.

Lalita Janke's avatar

Then we haven’t pushed hard enough. Erase this thought. It’s only a matter of time. The question is can we take the entire group out? His cabinet has been infected by “righteous fascism”

Leslie's avatar

This is so obviously correct. Just watch any congressional inquiry. Especially of Bondi or Noem. They clearly scream they are above the law or reprimand. They refuse to answer legitimate questions and verbally assault those questioning them. You can absolutely tell the cabinet meetings or any meetings in their administration basically strategize how to behave when caught breaking the rules. Righteous indignation. Like a horrid episode of the Apprentice he is schooling them how to become successful sociopaths.

Annette's avatar

sad, but so true, Leslie

Joanne Beck's avatar

They-corporate news media- won't investigate because they are scared of orange anus and his monsters. What wusses.

bruce schneider's avatar

The press has always been overly kind to him, even early in his "career" in New York when he was treated as some sort of celebrity.

P J Johnston's avatar

They bribed so many owners of American major networks so they would white wash over this stuff. Yes he should be in the same boat and the Prince was.

Pradnya Sikand's avatar

Thank you Andy for your intelligent and diligent reporting . Thank you for speaking truth to power. Trump is a deplorable and destructive human being. Our thoughts should always be with the victims of his predatory behavior. Keep up your excellent work !

nacreplus2's avatar

Thank you for this public service announcement! Will share as widely as possible. I wish I knew how to make things catch a ride on an algorithm and go viral ...

I'll see what I can do....

Thank you Andy.

You had to be the first, huh? LOL

Exoneration is not the same as redaction, Mr. President.

Paul's avatar

more like redaction is not exoneration

once a pig, always a pig. and now you look like one

Lorenzo's avatar

He is the first lard ass President in my lifetime, and I'm 83.

Sandra Nicht's avatar

but pigs are intelligent creatures and able to feel and show love. I would reference that tar monster from Star Trek: Next Generation (the evil creature that killed Tasha Yar).

Al Gorythm's avatar

The biggest difference between a pig and the President is that pigs don’t shit where they eat.

Marlene R's avatar

They're also smarter than he is!

Erik Bruun's avatar

Pigs live respectable, honorable and compassionate lives. Give me a pig over a Trump any day.

Tricia Wilson's avatar

and he has piggy eyes. (no offense to our dear Miss Piggy, who is sorely missed, and a beauty.)

Erik Bruun's avatar

Nothing funny about today's post. Trump is just plain disgusting.

Thank you for your courageous reporting!

thietthoang@gmail.com's avatar

thought the same, and will continue supporting you. And thank you, Andy !

Jim Carmichael's avatar

Bull’s eye, Andy! Humorist is only one of your hats, investigative reporter is another, and then, there’s historian. . .

Ray Sturm's avatar

He is a disgusting human being. He will be severely judged. Not by SCOTUS nor by Congress. His final destination has been determined, yet we still have to wait...and wait...and wait...until he is gone. What a total black eye for our nation and heritage. Pray for new, exciting, refreshing leadership. VOTE and WRITE.

RJM's avatar

And the house should - with a handful of Republican votes and all the Dems- start impeaching Vance and ousting Johnson as speaker. The succession statute must be heeded!

Leslie's avatar

House WILL flip. Just keep saying it power of positive speech/thought. Now Vance is a real issue cuz he's there for Project 2025 completion moreso than Trump. He is salivating for Trump to die/be impeached/stroke out etc.

Joanne Elizabeth Schulze's avatar

I am not surprised by any of this. Most of us were already aware of Trump's sickness. I'm glad it's coming out and I applaud BBC and I applaud the UK. When will America step up to the plate? Or is it guys-just-being-guys.

J Cheng's avatar

Every time I read TBR I think this could be true and I wish it was. Today I knew this was true and wish it wasn't. This human piece of excrement needs to be taken down. Thank you Andy for posting this.

Katie Johnson alleges that, when she was a 13 year old child, she was tied to the four corners of a bed and raped, while onlookers ignored her screams for help. In 1994, the year this allegedly happened, the most requested Christmas gifts for 13 year old girls were Polly Pocket and Furby. https://katemanne.substack.com/p/the-actual-conspiracy-theory-surrounding. https://katemanne.substack.com/p/they-tried-to-bury-the-katie-johnson?r=2g4u&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/ghislaine-maxwell-transferred-to-minimum-security-prison-camp-in-texas. https://www.kcra.com/article/maxwell-invokes-fifth-clemency/70291961

Continue to identify the victims as children! Not underaged women not underage girls, BUT CHILDREN!!

Jim Dygert's avatar

NPR reported 90+ reports with allegations of sexual assault by this shitstain of a president have been held back by his toady DOJ. It’s disgusting he is allowed to walk free and clear..

Jan Fabiyi's avatar

How is it that we haven’t heard the the phrase “where there’s smoke, there’s fire?” Even his supporters should, at some point, suspect some wrongdoing, no?

Paul Ehrenzeller's avatar

In this case I like to say when it smells this bad, it’s not a fart, it’s a full load of 💩!

Jim Dygert's avatar

You are absolutely correct

Wendy Holtzman's avatar

Nothing funny here today. Tough night. I hope you’re feeling okay, Andy

Andy Borowitz's avatar

Never better, and ready to keep fighting. Last night was a joke! No way would I waste two hours on that mess

Erika Rosenfeld's avatar

Advanced avoidance tactic: I chose to work on my taxes rather than watching or listening to the Outrageous Orange bloviate for two hours.

Michael Strelka's avatar

I watched re-runs on tv, otherwise I might have been tempted to throw a brick at the tv

Jean Jacoby's avatar

Yes, best to protect your TV. I watched Lone Star Law, where one of the older game wardens rescued a 10-foot alligator from being enmeshed in hooks and nets people had just tossed in the water--definitely more inspiring than the SOTU.

Kathy Treftz's avatar

I watched the first episode of The Monster in Me instead of watching the monster on TV. Did this while working on a sock I'm knitting so I count that as a better use of my time.

Erika Rosenfeld's avatar

A much better use of your time! And you have something to show for it, other than a raging headache.

Cindy Froggatt's avatar

That’s Ivana in the audience with him in the last clip. And is that one of their sons next to her? Was Ivanka ever in one of these pageants he oversaw?

RJM's avatar

His behavior toward Ivanka and his statement that if she weren’t his daughter he’d have dated her should be recalled. Had anyone searched the files for her name? Wonder what’s there.

Brenda Reiss's avatar

One thing we do know is that "daddy" wanted to "date" his daughter

Donna S Swarr's avatar

So, as well as everyone in NY, NJ and CT knowing what Trump is, a liar, a financial idiot, a scam artist and at the very least, voyeur, everyone in Europe knows. Yes, when Stephen Colbert goes solely online, what people will call an extreme left view will provide what the mass media - shame on CBS and Washington Post don't have the guts to do.... and the others.... still not as bad, but the neutral choice of words is exasperating.
