Memorial Day is a good time to remember the guy who started an illegal war in Iran got out of military service with five deferments with “bone spurs” and called our fallen soldiers “suckers and losers.”

Mary-Jean Miner's avatar

I wouldn’t call it correct but it surely is accurate!

Timothy Cooper's avatar

Memorial Day is the day to remember those we have lost, and now it's the day to remember the democracy we lost despite all of those military who died to protect it and us. It's the day to reinforce our determination to get it back

Amen!

Double and triple Amens!

Andy does it again! It's nice to have a smile.

The Greenlanders turned out in huge numbers again this weekend, and turned their back whie encircling the consulate office. The idiot in chief was pushing for his ill thought grab, AGAIN!???. Can't believe anyone can hold their head high if a MAGA.

I am embarassed to be an American running our country this way not to mention the recent attempt for the mega slush fund and ballroom billions grabs!

Dr. Richard's avatar

Let’s hope this is an anonymous post from someone in the Village Idiot’s fake cabinet - since you think you’re running this country!

I think it was meant to say ruining our country.

It's so sad this creep will be President during the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence

MedjoolPalm's avatar

"sad"!? It's terrifying!

Lizbet's avatar

It bothered me too to the point that I just don't want to participate in any of the celebrations that will go on this year. But I console myself with the realization that July 4th isn't really America's birthday anyway. It's conception day, but we weren't really born as a single country until April 9, 1865. Celebrate that instead - it'll make you feel a little better anyway.

Franca Garofalo's avatar

We need to joyously celebrate democracy and being king-free for 250 years in such a way that it completely overshadows his self serving, tacky festivities.

Call it what it is: TREASON!

Dr. Richard's avatar

How about a NO KINGS DAY on July 4th with 300,000,000 true Americans?

SUZANNE Marie McAdam's avatar

I think filling the streets with "No Kings" protesters

should do it.

Lizbet's avatar

We REALLY DO NEED to do that. 4th of July should be a cross-country No Kings that massively dwarfs the others.

Also make sure there are many preprinted signs just to piss off the orange Bozo. Also to add a little more gas to the fire, have about half of the signs, NO Taxpayer Money for Bozo's ARCH, or NO Taxpayer Money for Bozo's BALLROOM.

Perhaps we should offer him the option of being King if he relinquishes being president. He appears invincible to impeachment but perhaps a beheading.

Dr. Richard's avatar

We should accept nothing short of absolute surrender to the rule of law with repossession if every penny he, his family and fellow crooks have stolen - to feed and educate our children, pay for national health, vet immigrants humanely and legally and hire 10,000 prosecutors and Judges to fast-track MAGA prosecutions.

Lizbet's avatar

Don't forget replace the massive number of judges that he's put on the bench. Looking at you Supreme Court.

JBR's avatar

With luck he'll trip near the Vietnam memorial and get take men to podiatry dept at hospital and get admitted for severe advanced systemicbone spurs affecting hisctoes, feet, his corpus callosum and frontal cortex, requiring immediate radiation and hair transplant .

Dr. Richard's avatar

He’s headed for a massive stroke soon. Then he’ll be like that poor reporter with CP that he insulted and made fun of. Just desserts for this criminal narcissistic sociopath. The remains of MAGA will eat him alive!

JBR's avatar

Like incredible unbelievable novel. All with scared space age technology.

JBR's avatar

Gosh. With all that money. He could easily take care of himself.

Dr. Richard's avatar

He does, and he is the only pseudo-human that he cares about. Interesting that he never uses HIS money to do so though - always that of others he has degraded and stolen from/extorted.

I remember that.

In 2018 drump referred to the more than 1800 US marines who lost their lives during WW1 at Belleau Wood, laid to rest at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, as 'suckers' for getting killed.

This so-called "president" refused to go and honor these fallen US Marines because "he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain"

Dr. Richard's avatar

…and demeaning John McCain fir having been wounded while he celebrates his pin prick on his ear as an act of courage. Oh, for want of two inches.

Erika Rosenfeld's avatar

I, too, thought about Trump’s disparaging of John McCain. He and I were at opposite ends of the political spectrum, but I greatly admired his character and honesty. I was old enough during the Vietnam War to know what American troops endured. McCain not only survived, he emerged with his integrity intact. Does Trump even know about the Hanoi Hilton?

Mary Gilbert's avatar

I agree-McCain & I differed on policy but he was a man of immense integrity & honor. When a woman screamed out that Obama wasn’t even an American during one of his rallies while he running for president, McCain corrected her immediately & sternly.

Dr. Richard's avatar

Always remember that and McCain’s tanking of a criminally-devastating MAGA FRAUD if a healthcare bill, and the thousands of other crimes of this seditious cult. NEVER AGAIN!

Al Keim's avatar

McCain's one vote delivered with a walk up to McConnell -pause-then a raised thumbs down. That gesture saved ACA, aka Obamacare. The bastids are still trying to destroy it.

Annette's avatar

one of my favorite events . . . politicians will be politicians, but they should be human beings first, unlike Captain Bone Spurs

Dr. Richard's avatar

He’s no politician but an ignorant, lying narcissistic sociopath con man CULT LEADER of society’s rejects.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

That rebuke of the woman is a classic example of integrity. I wasn't a fan of McCain's politics but he was honest and tried to be fair.

Annette's avatar

I agree, Wendy. He was kind but firm in his rebuttal to her. She might not have believed him, but I respected his respect for others.

John Townsend's avatar

He should be put there under house arrest!

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

In so many ways, I agree.

Had it been 2" closer, however, I believe that he would have become a martyr. I believe that it's a matter of time before he self-destructs figuratively and literally. Amen to Democracy Docket lawyers in the meantime, who are saving democracy from his absurd lawsuits, one lawsuit soon at a time. I agree that a remedy can't come soon enough...as in impeachment, further prosecutions PLURAL, and full release of the Epstein Files...a come-uppance will occur beginning in November. Then I can only wish sycophantic Republicans will finally turn on him.

SUZANNE Marie McAdam's avatar

Ellen, if those sycophants turned on him now

we all wouldn't have to endure this till November.

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

You're so right, Suzanne! Hope they fold like dominoes sooner than later, but I'm not counting on it just yet. Dreaming of it, though. The Republicans could put us all out of our misery, but choose not to.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Yes. But I do believe the entire thing was planned and staged. I also wonder about WH Correspondents Dinner. He gets off on incidents which make him seem 'invincible.'

Kimball C Pier, Ph.D's avatar

Donald is a jealous, insecure little bully. Sadly, he thinks diminishing and disrespecting others is the way to feel better about himself. I see him deteriorating and decomposing every day. In his delusional world, when he insults and disrespects others who are the true heroes, he really believes we all agree with him. And the world gets quieter and less reactive as we watch this spectacle of insanity with a mix of horror and incredulity. It's like watching a man burn himself alive as he continues to proclaim his omnipotence. At least that is true for me. And now, I need to remember my father, who served in World War II as a physician and sat at the bedsides of men and boys who, as they screamed in agony or died, often called out for their mothers.

For me, I remember my parents always taking scores of family and friends to the "Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier". I remember, as vividly, the sound of the taps on their shoes, and the shifting of the rifles on their shoulders as I remember the sounds of "Taps" being played. There is still deep gratitude within me for all who serve...

Kim D's avatar

That's right. He has a criminal mind and is a citizen of no country. He thinks all Americans are suckers and losers and deserve to be looted. We're not citizens, we're marks.

Mary F Englebert's avatar

According to David Hannum (a banker who said it about P.T. Barnum), there is a sucker born every minute--and sadly, it appears American is full of them. Or at least enough of them who voted in 2016 and 2024.

Dr. Richard's avatar

Intelligence, patriotism, ethics/morals are NOT a part of MAGA. Never were, never will be.

Mary F Englebert's avatar

Apparently it’s too hard to be intelligent, patriotic, ethical, and moral with bone spurs causing constant pain.

John Townsend's avatar

--which reververbrate in his empty brain!

Kim D's avatar

I've lost a lot of loved ones to this. Looking back over the years, I can see that they all have something in common: they're easily frightened.

I ran into some interesting research being done on parts of the brain when I was trying to figure out why my very sweet horse is so easily spooked. Were she in a wild herd she'd be the "alert horse." Turns out it this predisposition could have something to do with the size of the amygdalla. And research shows there's a connection with people having an extra large one and being MAGA. Science is always fine tuning, but I think they're on to something.

Mary F Englebert's avatar

Same here. I try to maintain a certain level of relationship w/sibs, but any acquaintances/friends who went MAGA are history. My effort for sibs are more an "aware of you but not very interested" kind of thing these days. I find it difficult to be even casually engaged with anyone I know helped do this to the nation and to so very many vulnerable/innocent peoiple.

The amygdala may be a key, but I don't think it completely explains the greed/racism/homophobic/misogynist,christo-facism bent in their hearts. I can't chalk it all up to fear; some of it is just plain meanness.

MARGARET KENDALL's avatar

we've learned from this debacle. for me, fear is a poor motivator. it has failed with the fear-based religions, now it's failing in govenment. amygdala, interesting phenomenon i know so little about. meanness, yes. we all have a shadow side, some let it take over them-- especially harmful if they're persons in power.

Lynn Hammonds's avatar

Just like all those lining up, slavering, to privatize and loot major American institutions. I still encounter folks who, in the lineup at the post office, complain but are totally unaware the Rs set in motion methods to bankrupt the USPS to prove its 'failure' so it can be taken over. JBR's avatar

How did he get to be president? Cheating. And kamalaxqas horrible candidate and Biden misled country. What a horrible predicament. Self governance seemed to be abject failure. King Chas would be better leader

Lynn Hammonds's avatar

Chas is not the leader of Britain, but its figurehead. Self governing is possible, and preferred, when established Constitutional order is kept. Kamala Harris may have been better but was rushed into candidacy when Biden stepped aside; a mess, yes. But Biden and the Dems wanted to hold back the onslaught of autocracy/fascism.

Wendy Tucker's avatar

Kamala didn't have a chance in hell. Biden was delusional and his entourage kept his increasing senility and illness from the public. Until that fateful debate. Then we knew. I recommend book, 'Original Sin' by Alex Thompson & Jake Tapper. It pissed off many Biden apologists but it is very revealing.

Jerr's avatar

Screw Jake Tapper, he just wanted to make a big killing on his book.

JBR's avatar

Agreed. Hes very impressive. But just figurehead

Dr. Richard's avatar

If that’s what you think, please move to a more acceptable place for you- MOSCOW. Biden was far from the criminal that Trump wants you to think he is through his endless lies. Biden was a true patriot and served the public for his entire life. Trump served Trump.

Jerr's avatar

Besides always serving himself, we can't forget his puppet master Putin.

JBR's avatar

Not a criminal. Terrific president. Had terrible debate and didn't address it promptly. Most Americans seem fine with current situation but many are not.

Jerr's avatar

People seem to forget that Joe had spent days overseas, and spent days preparing for the debate, plus had a terrible cold, and had been taking cold medication, who wouldn't have a bad debate under those conditions. The debate should have been postponed until he was well enough to have a decent debate.

I’m with Dr. Marlene. You’re brilliant, Andy. I read podiatrist in the title and wondered: How is Andy going to make a funky link between podiatrists, Memorial Day, and you-know-who? A renaming of Arlington National Cemetery after the WORLD’S BRAVEST FOOT SOLDIER (WHO FOUGHT IN 2 WARS BUT I ENDED 8) Maybe Trump rambles over to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, stubs his toe and shouts, “IS THERE A FOOT DOCTOR IN THIS LOUSY PLACE?” Keep them coming, Andy. And while we're on it, it's basically a pity that most people see Memorial Day as just an excuse for a celebratory barbeque, or the official beginning of summer. Too few people cherish the day for its true meaning: honoring those who gave so much to keep us free. At least today, be sure to thank a Vet.

Candy C's avatar

I liked what Adam Kinzinger said about this in one of his posts this week. He believes we should say happy Memorial Day and have the barbecues, all while remembering why we can do it freely. And yes, take every chance to thank a veteran!
