Your voice is more important than ever Andy. Maybe we will see Colbert and Kimmel showing up on substack?

How will US audiences see CBC programming? Kimmel can go to Canada …. But the audience is pretty small.

I've thought of that. If EACH fired person in media of any kind got their own substack -- or perhaps easier/better yet -- joined in various groups, we would have access to the Best of the Best. Already, Jennifer Rubin, Katie Phang, and Ann Telnaes have started substacks. Jim Acosta and Eugene Robinson having recently left their respective positions. I would absolutely subscribe to their columns.

No chance of that, happily. Unlike Republicans, Norwegians can tell the difference between shit and shinola.

Dang. My love for fantasy is “trumping” my ethical brain. I’m a hypocrite who never viewed Only Murders in the Building & added HULU. But I wrote to that corporation protesting Kimmel cancellation. Plan to binge that show, mostly for the stars. I was bored by the introductory show with the vistas of nicer apartments than I ever saw. The rich aren’t like me- I’m also a wannabe decorator & will intentionally look at their decor. THEN I’ll cancel it. And goodbye my beloved Marvel universe. There are graphic novels at our library and I have a few DVDs.

Excellent post, Andy ~ my favorite funny line is, "Soon, the only comedian left on TV will be Karoline Leavitt." My favorite unfunny line is, "...the quislings in corporate media continue to bend their knee to our senile wannabe dictator..."

I am so very thankful to you, Andy, for sharing your gifts of insight and humor with those of us who are smart enough to listen. Keep sharing and hopefully the fairy godmother of critical thinking will sprinkle her magic over those who refuse to listen. You are not only a gem, but you are a national treasure!

Could PBS start a couple of comedy hours?

Expand full comment
JP4M's avatar

What an interesting idea! The British comedy is such a pleasure. Inquiring certainly could not hurt. It would help if PBS had more funding, more donations since their money from the government has been cut. If a portion or all of the people stopping contributions to the program companies named, and gave to PBS and NPR instead, it would help tremendously. I do not know if their schedules would allow more programming, but it seems worth consideration. We must keep and support PBS and NPR.

Good points re funding and license. I did make the suggestion somewhat as a joke, but I wonder if it's not good to push every limit now and make them have to retaliate, making clear their authoritarianism and un-Americanism. Also with some deft product placements, Kimmel and Colbert could generate some huge "charitable" revenue for PBS

It isn't. There is vast wealth and an organized oligarchy with well-paid agents working to undermine our freedom. They control the banks. They control the corporations. They control the media. They control the government. The Presidency, Congress and Supreme Court. They are working to control the schools and churches. Trump is merely their agent. As was Kirk. They are only as effective as their agents make them. That is why Kirk's death rattled them to their core.

Oligarchs have an agenda, "More for us, less for you." It doesn't work in a free democratic society. That is why they need agents to confuse and divide us. And why Democracy is a challenge to their supremacy.
